How can you impact the world in just two months? As Camp Highroad summer staff, you have the opportunity to influence kids ages 8 to 17 as you lead them through the day, model Christian community, and teach them outdoor skills. In just 8 weeks, over 3,000 day and overnight campers spend time at Camp Highroad – which means you have the opportunity for a positive impact on thousands of kids’ lives. What will you do with that power?

Working at camp is far bigger than just “another summer job.” You are the leader, the person that campers look to for encouragement to jump off the zip line, for comfort when they’ve skinned a knee, for wisdom in answering spiritual questions, and for cheers when they conquer a fear. You will develop deep friendships with fellow staff; you will work harder than you ever thought possible; and you will grow in your relationship with God.

As summer staff, you will rotate each week between the counselor team for one of our four age groups and the support team for our day camp visitors, the kitchen, or other activities that need assistance. You will rarely be bored! Whatever your role, you will be challenged to step outside your comfort zone, fully supported by our team leaders, who are there to mentor you, help in challenging situations, and cheer you on toward Christ.

What qualities do we look for in our summer staff? Spiritual maturity, a love of adventure and fun, servant-hearted leadership, a strong work ethic, flexibility, a sense of humor, and definitely a love for kids and teens! Our summer staff must be at least 18 years old and must have graduated from high school. We also prefer staff who are available to work the entire summer, from Staff Training (June 8-17) through Summer Camp (June 19-August 5). Camp Highroad pays a minimum of $1,700 for the summer as well as covering food and housing.

Counselors in Training (CIT)

All NEW CIT positions are currently FULL
However, we usually have some people pull out on us due to unforeseen circumstances. Therefore if you would like to go on the waiting list for a CIT position, please email Chrissy at: summercamp@camphighroad.org

Applications for the 2017 Summer will open in November.

Camp Highroad’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program allows high school students the opportunity to serve in a role similar to our Summer Camp Staff while also being mentored by one of our senior summer staff.

As a CIT, you will generally join the elementary counselor team, where you will learn the responsibilities of a Highroad Counselor while helping to shepherd a group of campers. You will also participate in a discipleship program with our CIT Team Leader, which includes Bible study, camp skills training, and a fun activity. Depending on the week, you also might have the opportunity to join our support team, learning about the behind-the-scenes work of Camp Highroad.

What do we look for in potential CITs? A love of kids, a teachable spirit, a sense of humor, willingness to work hard, a positive attitude, and a desire to grow spiritually! The CIT program is a paid position for teenagers entering the 11th or 12th grade in High School. CITs typically work three weeks of Summer Camp, which runs from June 19 – August 5; weeks are assigned based on individual schedules and camper registration numbers.

Mandatory CIT training will be held at Highroad from 10am on Saturday, June 11th, to 6pm on Sunday, June 12th.

Our CIT program is popular and we have limited spots, so if you are interested in joining our team, follow the link below!
